Spiral plate heat exchangers offer advantages such as small size, compact design, high heat transfer efficiency, and low metal consumption. They are suitable for dry liquid-liquid, gas-liquid, and gas-gas convective heat transfer, steam condensation, and liquid evaporation heat transfer in industries requiring heat conversion, including chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, machinery, power, environmental protection, energy conservation, and more.

 

The characteristics of spiral plate heat exchangers are: excellent heat transfer efficiency. The curved spiral channels and spaced columns enhance fluid turbulence, resulting in low fluid resistance within the channels, which increases the design flow velocity and contributes to a higher heat transfer coefficient. For water-to-water heat exchange, the heat transfer coefficient can reach 1.8–3.5 kW/(m²·℃).

 

It has a self-cleaning function. When fluid passes through areas of impurity deposition within a single channel, the flow velocity increases, easily flushing away the impurities.

The non-removable structure provides excellent sealing performance, making it suitable for heat exchange of highly toxic, flammable, explosive, or valuable fluids.

The fluid in adjacent channels flows in a pure counter-current manner, achieving the maximum logarithmic mean temperature difference, which is beneficial for heat transfer with small temperature differences and suitable for recovering low-temperature heat energy.

 

The structure is relatively compact, with a heat transfer area of ​​up to 150 m² per unit volume.

 

Due to the elastic free expansion of the spiral channel itself, the thermal stress is small.

 

The price is low. For the same heat exchange area, the volume of a spiral baffle heat exchanger is 1/3 smaller than that of a traditional bow-shaped baffle heat exchanger, reducing the cost of raw materials. The key factor in choosing a spiral plate heat exchanger is the issue of clogging. Although it has a self-cleaning function, clogging can still occur due to improper design or operation. In such cases, even with a detachable structure, mechanical cleaning is difficult. Using water, air, or steam for rinsing is convenient and more effective. The biggest drawback of spiral plate heat exchangers is the difficulty of maintenance. If the inner spiral plate breaks, the entire unit will be rendered unusable.
